Pinus rigida

Pitch pine

Pinus rigida, pitch pine, is a medium-sized evergreen tree that typically reaches heights of 40-70 feet. This species thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it well-suited for a variety of landscapes.

Its dense branches provide cover and nesting sites for a variety of bird species, while its seeds are an important food source for several types of wildlife including squirrels and small mammals.

With its dense foliage and rugged appearance, pitch pine is an excellent choice for creating privacy screens and windbreaks in the winter months.
