Sibbaldiopsis tridentata (f. Potentilla tridentata)
Sibbaldiopsis tridentata has a few rather amusing common names. Three-toothed cinquefoil is descriptive, while "shrubby five fingers" tickles the funny bone.
Britt’s favorite, this low-growing evergreen perennial makes an excellent ground cover in dry, full sun areas, especially in sandy soil. The glossy, dark green leaves are divided in three, and sweet white flowers have five rounded petals. When grown in full sun, the leaves turn a deep burgundy color in the fall. The small blossoms support native pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
