Plant information
Possibly the most dramatic of the Joe Pyes, Eutrochium fistulosum is generally the tallest of the bunch usually topping out around 7 feet. Although it has been known to hit 12 feet in an ideal location! With large lovely plumes of lavender its other common name, “Queen Of The Meadow”, is apt.
Although this species will tolerate part sun, its ideal location is full sun in moist soil. In a part-sun environment it may need staking to keep it upright. Other soil types from average or even wet soils will still allow Joe Pye to thrive.
Brown seed heads in the winter will welcome seed-eating songbirds to your yard.
The Joe Pyes are all known to be quite deer resistant.
