Plant information
This clump-forming little rush is often overlooked, both figuratively and literally. You may not have noticed it on paths while you hike in the woods or even as you stroll along city sidewalks. From sun to shade and dry to moist soils this tough little plant can stand up to a lot of foot traffic and compacted soils. Its common name ”path rush” is well chosen.
Used in a cluster, and with its seed heads fully on show, this is a really lovely but underutilized species. Only growing up to 12” at its tallest, try a group of these in your garden. Easy peasy.
