Plant information
Pearly everlasting…isn’t that the best plant name? This perennial has a lot going for it as an ornamental landscape plant as well as providing valuable support for wildlife.
A. margaritacea grows to around 2 feet in height, with rounded white flowers that grow in clusters, making this an excellent option for flower arrangements (especially dried! “Everlasting” is right!)
As for the scent, if you love woodsy/tobacco scents, this one might just do it. We’ve heard it described as musky/pine/tobacco. This scent profile makes perfect sense when you learn that Native People used this as a tobacco substitute, as well as for a wide variety of medicinal purposes.
