Agalinis tenuifolia
slender false foxglove
Commonly known as slender false foxglove or gerardia, is a delicate, self-seeding annual wildflower, suitable for a wide variety of locations from roadsides to prairies.
Agalinis tenufolia is considered to be a semi-parasitic plant, meaning it requires a host plant in order to germinate and grow, but still contains chlorophyll and is able to perform photosynthesis.
Stepping away from the science-y part, this wildflower has adorable purple-pink blossoms on its many branches, attractive to many butterflies, moths, and bees. You might be tempted to add this to your more cultivated space, however it really is best suited to more wild, undisturbed areas. If you are looking to naturalize a corner of your property, this may be a lovely addition!
