Symphyotrichum lateriflorum

Calico aster

Lovely, sweet, white flowers adorn the long stems of this bushy woodland perennial. The purple-red centers of the blooms add contrast and color a shade garden.

The common name, Calico Aster, comes from the varied colors as the blossoms mature at different times. This aster is an important one for native bees that have a short proboscis (tongue), as its nectar tubes are much shorter than others, serving as a valuable energy source for these short-tongued insects.

Plants can be purchased in-person or online (with in-person pick-up).

All online orders will be ready for pick-up 24-72 hours after purchase. You will receive an email to let you know when your order is ready. We kindly ask that you pick-up any orders within one week of purchase.
