Salix interior (sandbar willow)

Need a plant that can take a beating and keep on growing? Sandbar Willow is the ultimate "workhorse" for shoreline stabilization and erosion control. With its long, narrow leaves and slender, flexible stems, it’s built to handle frequent flooding and fast-moving water.

In the spring, its yellow catkins are a vital food source for emerging bees. Because it spreads via underground runners to form dense thickets, it’s an incredible provider of nesting habitat and cover for birds—just give it plenty of room to roam near a pond or stream!
