Salix lucida

Shining willow

Salix lucida can reach a height of 12 to 20 feet. This willow naturally grows in moist soils near streams, ponds, and wetlands in the New England region. It provides critical habitat and serves as a food source for various wildlife, including the caterpillars of several butterfly species. The term "shining willow" refers to the reflective quality of its leaves!
