Juncus canadensis (canada rush)
Meet the "clumping specialist" of the wetlands: Canada Rush. This isn’t your average blade of grass; it’s a sturdy, cool-season perennial that sports tubular, deep green stems topped with clusters of chocolate-brown, star-shaped seed heads.
Growing 2–3 feet tall, it loves to keep its feet wet, making it a champion for erosion control along pond edges or in soggy marshland. It provides fantastic nesting material and cover for songbirds and serves as a host plant for several specialized moths.
If you’re looking to add some structural "verticality" to a wetland restoration, this rush is a must-have.
