Eutrochium purpureum
Sweet Joe Pye or Purple Joe Pye is a wonderfully ornamental perennial with massive domed clusters of vanilla-scented flowers atop strong purple stems.
As with the other Eutrochium species this is a favorite plant for a variety of pollinators and will serve as gorgeous backdrop for other perennials.
Sweet Joe Pye works in part sun to shade and moist to average soils, not drought tolerant.
Source: grown from seed originally from Helia Native Nursery, western MA. Original provenance unknown.
