Tall gallon pot, healthy root system, still growing
Swida (Cornus) amomum
Silky dogwood
A dogwood which prefers deeper shade than most, Silky dogwood earns its name from the silky hairs that cover the smaller twigs and underside of leaves.
Often found in boggy wetlands, plant this medium sized shrub in moist soils, a few inches of leaf mulch will help keep the moisture around the roots.
Silky dogwood has finer, smaller blossoms than others, and the clusters are attractive to bees and butterflies. The berry-like fruits have visual interest for humans, and food value for birds and other wildlife.
