Ludwigia alternifolia
seedbox
Although this native perennial is beautiful with cheery yellow-flowers and reddish stems... the autumn and winter show of cube-shaped seed pods are the show stopper.
This one has a bit of specific site requirements, really thriving in moist to wet soils. Have trouble with water collecting below your downspouts? Or a lower spot in your yard? Have a pond this could grow next to? This might work for you.
Seedbox leaves also turn beautiful shades of orange and red in the fall. This one is a stunner year round.
