Liriodendron tulipifera (tulip tree)
Need a some shade…fast? Tulip trees can grow 2-5 feet per year in full sun and depending on the site. They slow down their growth after about 20 years reaching their full heights finally at 60-90 feet tall. Britt just planted one that’s about 9 inches tall and she’s looking forward to having a picnic under it soon.
Tulip tree leaves are large and unique, looking a bit like a maple leaf but only with 4 points. They have great fall yellow color as well. The gorgeous flowers look just like tulips!
