Baccharis halimifolia (groundsel bush)
Groundsel bush is also known as “saltbush” and as one could infer…it is very salt tolerant. This shrub reaches 6-12 high and just as wide, depending on the site. It’s not particular with soil needs, although often found in wetlands, it’s also at home in dry soils.
The real show stopper is the snowy-silvery plume-like achenes (dry fruit). This plant is dioecious (having the male and female reproductive organs in separate individuals) so plant 3 for the best chance of producing the achenes which occur only on the female plants.
The abundant nectar supports a plethora of pollinators.
Plants can be purchased in-person or online (with in-person pick-up). All online orders will be ready for pick-up 24-72 hours after purchase. You will receive an email to let you know when your order is ready. We kindly ask that you pick-up any orders within one week of purchase.
