Elymus hystrix
bottlebrush grass
This native grass prefers partial to full shade well-drained soils. Elymus hystrix forms a clump with arching, bottlebrush-like flower heads that are a favorite of pollinators, particularly bees. It is also host to caterpillars of various moth species, providing both food and shelter. Growing naturally in woodland clearings, this grass adds texture to shady garden spaces, where it’s loved for its graceful form.
