Oenothera fruticosa ssp. tetragona
Narrowleaf sundrops
A darling plant with bright yellow flowers in the summer and pretty red leaves in the fall. This long-blooming, shorter, relative of the more common “Common (I wasn’t kidding it really is more common) evening primrose”. Oenothera fruticosa ssp. tetragona is best in full sun to part sun. Anything too shady will lead to leggy plants.
Narrowleaf sundrops support specialized native bees, is one of the larval host plants of the pretty pink primrose moth, and is visited by hummingbirds.
Plants can be purchased in-person or online (with in-person pick-up).
