What Are Native Plants? Native plants are species that evolved right here... in New England, alongside the insects, birds, and wildlife that depend on them. These plants and animals have been connected for thousands of years. Because of this, they’re naturally adapted to our climate, our soils, and our dramatic weather swings—from droughts to downpours to Nor’easters. ADD SOMEHTING ABOUT HOSTS

Why Garden with Native Plants? Native plants do more than look good. They: Provide essential food and habitat for birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife Are adapted to local conditions, making them more resilient Often need less water and maintenance once established Help rebuild healthy soil Change beautifully with the seasons Even a small planting can make a meaningful difference.

Where Should I Start? Start small and keep it simple. Many people begin with: One plant they’re excited about A container or planter A small garden bed A tricky spot where other plants struggle You don’t need to redo your entire yard to begin gardening with native plants.

How do I Choose the Right Plants? The most important step is matching plants to your space. Pay attention to: Sun: full sun, part shade, or shade Soil moisture: dry, average, or wet Space: how much room the plant will have to grow Choosing the right plant for the right place makes gardening easier and more rewarding.
