What to Plant:
Edible Native Plants

When we think about edible plants, we most often envision plump, tasty berries, or obvious hanging fruit. If you focus solely on these attributes, you will be missing out on the wide variety of native plants that are edible, either entirely or in part. Many of our native plants have been used for centuries by Indigenous People for both food and medicinal purposes. While we list our favorites here, we always caution you to do your own thorough research, understand what parts of a plant are edible and under what circumstances, and always, ALWAYS exercise caution when collecting and eating any wild-collected plant.
