At-risk bumble bee plant kit

Did you know there are many different species of bumble bees?! The genus is Bombus and there are over 250 documented species. In eastern North America we have 21 species, several of which have seen a marked decline in recent years, mostly attributed to habitat and diversity loss.

Our Bombus plant kits have been created with the expert assistance of Dr. Robert Gegear from UMass Dartmouth, with the utmost goal of providing quality nectar and pollen stretching across the seasons. Fill your gardens with these plants and you will be doing these industrious workers a huge service, and you will be rewarded with many hours of pleasure, watching the fuzzy butts bounce around in pleasure from plant to plant.

Dr. Gegear has a wonderful website full of information on Bombus spp. with identification cards and plenty of opportunities to help with his research as a citizen scientist. https://beecology.wpi.edu/website/home#page-title
